Housing mouse colonies in individually ventilated cages (IVCs) has significantly improved housing density, environmental control, and biosecurity. However, the design of many IVCs can make it difficult to include enrichment tools such as running wheels within the home cage. The Maze Engineers' wireless low-profile mouse running wheel addresses this challenge with an innovative solution that enables accurate monitoring of running activity in most standard IVCs. Equipped with a specially engineered wheel surface and a wireless transmitter, the system seamlessly sends activity data from the home cage to a computer—no wires or cables required.
